Top 20 Temples in Nepal

Nepal is a country where people never fight for their relion. Nearly 80% people belongs form Hingu religion and Nepal is rich of religious and additionally social leganchy. Nepal is the birth place of God Ramchandra's wife Sita. Nepal is the birth place of Gautam buddha. So Nepal is often called as a homes of Gods and Goddesses and is a city of temples. There are many temples in Nepal but top 20 among them are listed below.

1.Pashupati temple

When we talk about top most temple in Nepal, the name comes about Pashupati Temple. This is an ancient Hindu temple listed in UNESCO word heritage site which is very famous for hindus in Nepal, india and other country. This is the Temple of lord Shiva and Devitee from different parts of nepal as well as defferent parts of the world come here to worship the lord Shiva. Pasupati temple is situated at the Gausala Kathmandu in the river bank of Bagmati River.Other than Hindu people are prohibeted to enter the Pasupati Temple. Hindu people can enter the temple and other can only obsurve from the other banks of bagmati temple.  Only Hindu people can enter the temple premises while other are not allowed to enter the temple and only can observe from other banks of bagmati temple. It is inside the Kathmandu valley took 15 rupees by bus and nearly 5 km east-north from Ratnapark.It is design in pagoda style. It is often called the temple of gold becouse the roof the temple is made up of gold but gradually gold has been stolen by people. Now only the upper part (gajur;गजुर) is of gold. Divotees flow falls on monday because it is the favourate day of lord Siva. But Sivaratri is the day when the Pashupati is mostly populated rather than other days. In Sivaratri, Babas from Nepal, India, Shrilanka and other parts of world come here. Somewhere Babas do naked dance also. it is the most famous temple for Hindu people all over the world.

2.Manakamana temple

Manakamana is the word makes form 2 differnent words called Mana(मन ) which means
"Heart" or "soul" and Kamana(कामना) means wishes(भाकल or इच्छा).  It means it will fullfill our wishes of our heart. This is the most visited religious Temple of hindus. Yes This is the another famous Hindu Temple in Nepal. Going there was not so easy as Pasupati Nath. This temple is loacted in the hill reason of Gorkha district. Devotee come here with their wishes(भाकल) and they beleaved that their wishes will be fulfilled by Manakamana devi. This is going on form 17th century and still in present day. Now a days the journey of Manakamana is not too difficult as we did in past days because cable care shorten our journey as well as comfortable. This is first cable care used to go  Manakamana mandir. But this bacility is available in Chandragir also. Cable car for Manakawana starts form Kurintar which is just 10km far from mungling. And ticket can cut form either different agency or form Kurintar ticket counter. Cable care takes 10 minutes to reach Manakamana Temple. It is nearly 106 kelometer far from our capital Kathmandu.

Myth of Manakamana

It is beleaved that the Manakamana Temple was build because one farmer see blood and mile on the stone when he accidentely hit that stone. after some time they declared that it was a symbol of raincrnation of a Goddess. Due to this reason they build a Temple and named it as a Manakamana. People think their wishes are fulfilling by Manakamana and gradually become famous. There are severl hotels and lodge. It is found one of the best place and temple to visit for the local as well as other tourist.

3.Dantakali temple

Another most famous temple is Dantakali temple. It is situated in the middle hilchowk of vijaypur in Dharan. Acording to the legend, lord Shiva was carrying by taking his wife Sati Devi deth body and rooming around there.  The tooth of Sati Devi fall at that place and named DantaKali. Where "danta(दन्त) means "teath"(दात) "kali(काली)" means "power"(सक्ति) and so called power of Kali "Dantakali".

4.Changunarayan temple

This is another famous temple of Nepal which is listed in UNSECO list. This temple is build  in the time of Malla, which was made in golden medievel period of Nepal history. It lies in bhaktpur district nearly 15 kelometer east from Kathmandu vally. This temple represents the growing development culture of nepal. This temple becoming the best destiny for the tourist in the world which leads the economic development of our nation by earning foreign currency from tourists. This temple is populated during festivals. Different cultural activites shown here is the main attraction for the tourists and so popular temple in Nepal.

5. Dakshinkali

it is situated around 25km from the Kathmandu vally. Acording to the legent, Dakshinkali was built when the goodness kali appears in the dream of Malla king about 14th century. It is beleaved that the blessing of Dakshinkali make every prayers wishes true. People often go there with some wishes to be fulfilled by Devi. The way is quite rough but differne vaicale like bus, taxi are avaible to go Dakshinkali.It is the popular and famous temple well known in Nepal.

6.Budhanilkantha temple, Kathmandu

Another most beautiful and famous Hindu temple is Budhanilkantha which is situated in the base of Shivapuri hil nearly 10 km far from Kathmandu vally. It is likely to entering point of National Park shivapuri and the village name is Budhanilkhanta. It is believed that only Hindu person can touch the feet of lord Vishnu who is always lying on the snake.

Acording to the legent the farmer got sculpture when he was plouging the fild. Accidently he cut the thumb of the Statue, later on starts bleeding. It is beleaved that the farmer who is plouging the field was accidently cut his thumb from figute and dye. The royals were surveyed that there is great power averting it ot happen each time they endeavored.
7.Swayambhunath Stupa(remaining)
If you have not reached Swayambhunath Stupa, then lets visit once. I pormise you that you feel to visit again. It is the best Stupa represtnts both Hindu and Buddhist temple in Nepal. It is not very far from the Kathmandu vally. A brilliant tower delegated a funnel shaped lush slope.  Swayambhunath Stupa is the most old and cryptic of all the heavenly sanctums in Kathmandu valley. It has a unique and artist tower which is visible from most of the site of Kathmandu valley. According to the history of Stupa, it is started to build from the 5 centuri AD. It represents that Buddhism has fall in this valley from the time of beginning of the time. According to the recorded legends about the Stupa of the fifteenth century, Swayambhu Purana, recounts a supernatural lotus, planted by a past Buddha, which bloomed from the lake that once secured Kathmandu valley.

8.Muktinath

Muktinat is one of the famous temple for the domastic as well as forain tourist. The temple is situated at Mustang district with the hight of 3,710m. It represents both Hindu and Buddhist creation and arranged at the foot of the mountain thorong La Mountain in Mustang locale.
There is a great statue of lord Vishnu as Shri Mukti Narayan which is human sized. Other are bronze picture of Bhoodevi-The goddess of earth(Laxmi), the goddess sarawati and Sita, Garuda, Lava/Kush and Sapta Rishi(सप्त ऋषि).

9.Guheswari temple

Guheswari is the word made from guhya(surrender) and ishwari(goddess).This is also one of the important temple for Hindu which situated in Kathmandu. Here non hindu is not permitted to enter. This temple is lies very close to Pashupatinath temple. Acording to the legent Lord Shiva meandered the world conveying the assortment of Sati after she commited sucide. Her vejina (योनी) fell at this place. Pratap Malla assembled this in the seventeenth century.  This is the temple goddess Parvati and reresents the female power.

10.Janakpur temple

Janakpur temple is famous for the Ram Janaki Temple, situated at the Janakpur shows the origin of Goddess of Sita wife of Lord Rama. This is the most beautiful Hindu temple at the heart of the Janakpur. This temple is colored with fully bright white. It is constructed in area of 4,860 sq feet and 50 meter height,  Artist use this temple both style, Islamic and Rajput domes. Almost all room of its are decorated with glass color.
This temple was build in 1657 with golden statue of Goddess Sita.The temple stands on the exact spot where the statue was found. Sita was born at Mithila as a doughter of King Janak and later got married to the lord Rama king of Ayodhya. This legend brings thousands of tourist from Nepal and India every year.

11.Bindabasini temple

Tourist main attraction of Nepal is to visit Pokhar and the main attraction of Pokhara is  Bindabasini Temple. Bindabasini temple is built by white pagoda -style. This temple is situated 3000 feet above sea level along the renowned annapurna and Machhpuchhare mountain ranges. This temple lies at the hort of Pokharanear the old bazaar of POkhara.
This is the temple which has great religious importance to Hindus. This is the temple of goddess Durga. Acording to the old generation believe, this temple was built because the King Khadag Bum malla was ordered by the goddess to set up her statue there. Then the foundation of Bindabasini temple begin in 1845(BS). Animals are sacrificed at this temple on Saturday and Tuesday. This temple is most populated at the time of Dashain. Temple development comunitte has arranged little space for the tourist during the festival of Dashain.
The temple is surrounded by a park- like landscape. So this place is good destiny for the picnics whilst enjoing the amazing panorama. The atmosphere is fresh with natural buty of Himalayas.

14.Bajrayogini temple

The three-storied sanctuary of Bajrayogini is found upper east to Kathmandu, at the shore of Sali River on the slopes of Sankhu. The fundamental passage is gold-plated, face and hands are painted red, she has two hands, one holding a sword, the other a lotus and she is embellished with overwhelming dress and trimmings. 16.Maula Kalika temple

Maula Kalika temple is another famous religious temple of Nawalparasi which is near the Devaghat Dham. There is nearly 1892 steps to reach at the top of Maula Kalika temple and We have to climp steps nearly 1 hour to go there. It lies at the lap of the Narayani River in the mid part of Nepal. It is measured nearly 561 meter high form sea leavel.

17.devghat dham Chitwan

Devghat Dham is another famous, regilious oand cultural place of Tanahu District in Gandaki zone of Nepal. This is the most holiest place which is described in many religious book like Shree Sosthani, Ramayan etc. Devghat is located at the junction Seti Gandaki and Krishna Gandaki river. It is situated at nearly 7 kilometer far from Narayangarh. This is famous for the geology and atmosphere where we can see tropical woodlands, wild creatures and winged animals. This is famous for the funeral of dead body. people come here at the very last time of their life to remove their sins and add positive action on their life to go heaven after death. There are many temple surround here and Yangya, Jop, Thop is going here day by day. 

18.Chabdi Barahi

Chandi Barahi is another famous temple situated at Damuli, Tanahun. This is the one of the religious place and people go there by Busses, Jeeps, motorbike or by foot. It is believed that the goal that we desire to accomplish will be done if we visits here once. This is famous for Bali also. So The Chandi Barahi is mostly populated at the time of Dashain. Who is not sacrifice animal will go there for cookout.

19.Tal barahi temple


One of the famous temple is well known as Tal Barahi Temple which is little pagoda-styled represents the goddess Tal Barahi. This temple is also known as the Lake Temple of Barahi Temple. The lies at the heart of the Pokhara,  Kaski District of the Gandaki Zone in western Nepal. This temple is famous for both Hindus and Buddhists and both prayers are come hare for worship Goddess Barahi(Durga). This temple is on in the center of the Fewa Lake like a little bit Island. It is said that Before many years ago a god named Barahi came here to see neighborhood. Latter on people began to live there permanently. It is center of the Phewa Tal so visitor has to go by boat. There is number of boat available and you can take boat either for rent or visit with ticket. The Machchhapusre Mountain falls at Fewa tal is another attraction of the Barahi Temple.

20.Panchkanya temple

Pachkanya temple is one fo the famous temple which is situated at the end of the road of Vijayapur hill at its highest point in a remote forested area. The site is quite plain, but monkeys around the temple running from here and there, jumping from trees to trees and for the sake of rice or fruits which is kept by prayer used in the temple. You can see 2 little sanctuaries on this site.
